Incorporated as the Town of Dania in 1904 and renamed Dania Beach in 1998, this city has the ocean on its east side, Fort Lauderdale to the north, Hollywood to the south and Davie to the west. Its limits are oddly patchy, because after the 1926 Miami hurricane most of Dania split away from Hollywood while some areas stayed. The airport sits right next door, and a mangrove forest still shelters a colony of vervet monkeys.
Nobody from Fire & Water Energy will show up with a shop vac; our role stops at the referral. Ring (866) 937-3230 and we will try to connect you with an independent restoration contractor serving Dania Beach; that company sets its own prices and schedule, and none is guaranteed to be free. How we pass along calls is spelled out under how it works and in the referral disclosure.
Oceanfront exposure in a tropical rainforest climate
Wikipedia classifies the climate as tropical rainforest, on the edge of tropical monsoon, a combination found nowhere else in the lower 48 states. That means long, wet summers and a hurricane season the county lists as June 1 through November 30. Barely 10 feet of elevation leaves little margin when heavy rain and high water coincide.
FEMA has included Broward County in twelve major disaster declarations since 2000: Bonnie and Charley, Frances and Jeanne in 2004; Katrina and Wilma in 2005; Matthew in 2016; Irma in 2017; Dorian in 2019; Ian and Nicole in 2022; Milton in 2024; and a 2023 declaration for severe storms, tornadoes and flooding. These cover the whole county, not particular blocks.
Water damage restoration for Dania Beach homes and condos
With more than 16,000 housing units, many of them in multi-story buildings, a single failed supply line or water heater can affect units below. Salt air speeds corrosion of exterior fittings and AC components, and condensate lines clog readily in this humidity. Older houses around Modello and downtown may still carry original plumbing.
For water damage restoration in Dania Beach, contractors commonly isolate the leak, extract water, check neighboring rooms or units with moisture meters and dry everything to a measured target. The emergency water removal page explains the first stage.
Federal disaster declarations that included Broward County
FEMA records show Broward County was included in 13 major disaster declarations for weather or fire events from 2000 through 2026 (11 hurricane, 1 flood, 1 severe storm, by FEMA incident type). Declarations are made at the county level, so they do not mean every neighborhood in Dania Beach was affected. The most recent:
- 2024 – Hurricane Milton (DR-4834)
- 2023 – Severe Storms, Tornadoes, and Flooding (DR-4709)
- 2022 – Hurricane Nicole (DR-4680)
- 2022 – Hurricane Ian (DR-4673)
- 2019 – Hurricane Dorian (DR-4468)
- 2017 – Hurricane Irma (DR-4337)

Smoke and soot in shared buildings
In a condo or townhouse, smoke drifts through hallways, shared attics and ventilation, so neighbors often need cleaning even when flames never crossed the wall. Soot residue combined with damp ocean air can leave sticky films that stain quickly.
Restoration companies usually begin by securing the unit and removing burned items, then clean ceilings, walls and contents and treat lingering odor. Our smoke odor removal and fire damage cleanup pages detail the steps.
Hurricanes, coastal flooding and storm cleanup
Broward County emergency management maintains evacuation zones aimed at coastal residents, and anyone close to the beach should know theirs before a storm forms. Wind-driven rain can push through sliders and windows, while torrential downpours like those behind the county's 2023 declaration can flood ground floors and garages.
Floodwater is considered contaminated, so flood cleanup contractors generally remove saturated drywall, insulation and flooring rather than drying them. Roof and window damage falls under hurricane damage cleanup.
Mold in salt air and constant humidity
Year-round warmth near the ocean keeps relative humidity high, and mold can appear on wet materials within a day or two. Watch closets on exterior walls, under-sink cabinets and any spot where AC drain water has backed up.
The EPA advises professional help for mold patches larger than about 10 square feet. Our mold remediation page describes containment and clearance.
Protecting your family and your claim

- Sign up for ALERT Broward and check your evacuation zone through Broward County Emergency Management.
- Before cleanup starts, shoot photos and video of each room and keep receipts.
- Your insurer or agent can tell you what is covered; flood damage normally falls under a separate flood policy.

Dania Beach restoration FAQs
Why are Dania Beach's city limits so irregular?
After the September 1926 Miami hurricane hurt Hollywood's finances, most of Dania seceded from Hollywood, but some areas stayed behind. That left noncontiguous boundaries, so confirm which city or county office handles your address.
When should Dania Beach residents prepare for hurricanes?
Broward County lists hurricane season as June 1 through November 30. Check your evacuation zone, sign up for ALERT Broward and photograph your home's condition before the season starts.
Does Broward County flood outside of hurricanes?
Yes. FEMA's 2023 declaration for Broward covered severe storms, tornadoes and flooding rather than a named hurricane. Heavy rain alone can push water into low-lying homes.
Will the company I reach through Fire & Water Energy be working for you or for me?
It works for you. We are a referral service only, and the independent contractor you hire answers to you, not to us. Verify any contractor's license and insurance and get a written scope before work begins.
